Updating a 1970s bathroom in Akron, Ohio.
The Problem
Very close quarters in this bathroom demanded knowledge of every trick to avoid feeling cramped and closed-off in this space – all while providing extra accessibility features for a.
The solution
RBL expanded the entrance doorway, and added a lovely pedestal sink, converted tub to walk-in shower with glass frameless shower doors (with soothing blue accent tile for surprise visual interest), and mirrored medicine cabinet; all helped open the narrow space in order to provide handicapped accessibility. Main shower head has integral bluetooth speaker.
BEFORE: too narrow a doorway for good handicapped accessibility, and tightly constrained space inside… BEFORE: … along with a shower/tub that was a real access challenge. AFTER: a wider doorway … AFTER: pedestal sink and grab bar next to the commode … AFTER: … and finally a walk-in shower with grab bars for full accessibility. Looks great too!
